BECOME A VOLUNTEER!
Volunteers are essential to all of our programs at the Virginia YMCA. Whether serving as a club advisor, MGA resource officer, or college staffer, we would love to have your help to change the lives of our teenagers!
See Below what types of opportunities we have:
High School teachers and YMCA staff typically serve as club advisors for our local Hi-Y, Tri-Hi-Y, and Youth & Government Clubs. Advisors help students prepare for MGA, collect and submit paperwork, and attend MGA with their students. An Advisor Guide is available to help advisors understand this role better.
From lobbyists, legislators, and alumni to Capitol staff, we couldn’t run MGA without your help! Volunteers help students in committees and during chamber debates by advising student committee chairs and helping students understand their roles and legislation. You can find the application here.
Virginia YMCA alumni continue to give back by serving as volunteer staffers. Alumni help in chambers, assist reporters and lobbyists, advise the Underclassmen Legislature, and coordinate bill-tracking efforts, among other things. Alumni staff applications are available now. Alumni must be available during MGA 2025 (dates TBD). Join your fellow alumni and be a part of this year’s MGA! You can find the application here.
